Summary

It's time to take a ride on the nightmare merry-go-round! Never before have red lips curled into such blood-thirsty grins. Never before has such malicious good-humor glinted in merciless alien eyes. Never before has grease paint peeled like dead skin from the creases around a mouth forming such a vicious giggle. Never before have bulbous red noses pulsed with such malevolent fire. All that and a really boss soundtrack to boot. Never before, never since, and never again. Do not miss this movie!

Barbara's Rant

Let me tell you the brilliant thing about this movie. The brilliant thing about this movie is that the Chiodo brothers have taken their concept to its logical extreme! Not only are the aliens clowns, but their ship is a giant circus tent, they ride around on tiny tricycles and pile out of itty-bitty cars. They shoot popcorn guns, they trap people in giant balloons, they wrap their victims in giant cotton candy cocoon and suck their blood up through the coolest bendy straws I've ever seen in my life. Why? In the immortal words of Mike and Debbie, "Popcorn! Why popcorn?" "Because they're clowns, that's why!" They entertain their victims with shadow puppets and puppet shows. They even bring women heart shaped boxes of candy before they eat them (the women, not the candy). They turn victims into ventriloquist dummies and chase their prey with pet balloon dogs. Why? Because they're clowns and they think it's funny! After they kill the guard at the amusement park with acidic flesh-eating cream pies (What are you gonna do with those pies, boys?), they stop to put a giant cherry on top of his smoking, bloody, cream-covered remains. Why? Because they're clowns and if clowns were murderous blood-sucking aliens from outer space, that is exactly what they would do!!! I love watching a well thought out concept come to full-color life. I love watching those giant shoes make their slow-motion trek towards the annihilation of all that I hold dear. And I love this movie!
